Cookie Policy

Effective: 3 August 2026 · Last Updated: 3 August 2026

Entity: FareFuzz · Page: https://farefuzz.com/cookie-policy

1. What this policy covers

This Cookie Policy explains how FareFuzz uses cookies and similar technologies on farefuzz.com, what each category does, and how you control them.

It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information generally — including the passport, payment, and booking data we handle as a travel agency. This page deals only with what happens in your browser.

2. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. Similar technologies do comparable jobs:

  • Pixels and tags — tiny invisible images or scripts that record that a page loaded or an action happened
  • Local storage — browser storage that persists like a cookie but holds more data
  • Software development kits (SDKs) — code from a third party embedded in our site
  • Server-side tracking — where our servers, rather than your browser, send event data to a partner (see Section 7)

Throughout this policy, "cookies" means all of the above.

3. Your choices

3.1 The consent banner

When you first visit farefuzz.com you are shown a cookie banner. Strictly necessary cookies are set regardless, because the site cannot function without them. Analytics and advertising cookies are set only if you accept them.

You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in our footer. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and does not affect anything that happened before you withdrew.

3.2 Global Privacy Control

If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid instruction to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, for that browser and device. You do not need to do anything else.

3.3 Browser controls

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies through its settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break parts of the site — quote forms, live chat, and fraud protection in particular.

3.4 What opting out does and does not do

Opting out of advertising cookies stops interest-based targeting. It does not stop you seeing ads generally, and it does not affect emails, calls, or messages about a booking you have already made. To stop marketing emails or messages, use the unsubscribe link, reply STOP, or tell your advisor.

4. Categories we use

Category What it does Set without consent?
Strictly necessary Security, bot protection, load balancing, form integrity, remembering your cookie choices Yes — required for the site to work
Functional Live chat continuity, language and display preferences Only with consent
Analytics Understanding which routes, deal pages, and landing pages perform, and where visitors drop off Only with consent
Advertising Measuring which campaigns produce genuine bookings, building audiences, and retargeting Only with consent

5. Cookies used on farefuzz.com

The tables below list the cookies most commonly set on our site. Exact names and lifetimes are set by the providers and can change without notice; the current set is always visible in your browser's developer tools and in our Cookie Preferences panel.

5.1 Strictly necessary

Cookie Provider Purpose Typical lifetime
__cf_bm Cloudflare Distinguishes humans from bots; protects the site from automated abuse 30 minutes
cf_clearance Cloudflare Records that a security challenge was passed Up to 1 year
_cfuvid Cloudflare Rate limiting per visitor Session
Consent state cookie FareFuzz Remembers your cookie choices so you are not asked repeatedly 6–12 months
Session cookie FareFuzz Maintains your session and protects forms against cross-site request forgery Session

5.2 Functional

Cookie Provider Purpose Typical lifetime
crisp-client/* Crisp Maintains your live chat session so a conversation continues across pages and return visits Up to 6 months

Live chat transcripts are stored by our messaging provider and are covered in our Privacy Policy. If you contact us on WhatsApp, that conversation is handled by Meta under its own terms and is not governed by this Cookie Policy.

5.3 Analytics

Cookie Provider Purpose Typical lifetime
_ga Google Analytics 4 Distinguishes visitors 2 years
_ga_<container ID> Google Analytics 4 Maintains session state 2 years
_gid Google Analytics Distinguishes visitors 24 hours

We deploy analytics and advertising tags through Google Tag Manager. Tag Manager itself does not set cookies or collect personal information; it controls which of the tags below fire, and it respects your consent choices.

5.4 Advertising

Cookie Provider Purpose Typical lifetime
_gcl_au Google Ads Attributes conversions to ad clicks 90 days
IDE, test_cookie Google / DoubleClick Ad delivery and measurement Up to 13 months
_uetsid, _uetvid Microsoft Advertising Session and visitor identification for Bing ad conversion tracking 1 day / 13 months
MUID Microsoft Recognises a browser across Microsoft properties 13 months
_fbp Meta Identifies a browser for Facebook and Instagram ad measurement and retargeting 90 days
_fbc Meta Stores the ad click that brought you to the site 90 days
_rdt_uuid Reddit Conversion measurement and retargeting for Reddit ads 90 days

We also capture advertising click identifiers that arrive in the page URL — such as Google's gclid, Microsoft's msclkid, and Meta and Reddit click parameters — so that a booking can be attributed to the campaign that produced it.

6. Why we advertise this way

FareFuzz sells privately negotiated Business and First Class fares. Because these fares are not listed on public search engines, advertising is how most travelers find us. Measurement tells us which campaigns produce real bookings rather than unqualified enquiries, which keeps our costs down and, in turn, our fares competitive.

We think that is a fair exchange to explain rather than bury — but it is still your choice, and declining costs you nothing.

7. Server-side and offline measurement

Some measurement does not happen in your browser at all, so browser cookie settings alone do not control it. Where you have consented, we may:

  • Send conversion events from our servers to Google, Microsoft, Meta, and Reddit through their conversion APIs, rather than from your browser
  • Provide hashed email addresses or phone numbers to those platforms so they can match a visitor to an existing account and measure results without us disclosing readable contact details
  • Import offline conversions from our booking records — for example, that an enquiry from a particular ad click later became a ticketed booking — so that campaign bidding reflects actual sales rather than form fills

What we never send to advertising platforms: passport or government ID data, payment card data, accessibility or medical assistance information, dietary or religious meal codes, or the content of your conversations with our advisors.

Your opt-out in Section 3 applies to this activity as well as to browser cookies.

8. Third-party opt-out tools

Independently of our banner, you can use:

  • Google: Ads Settings, and the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
  • Microsoft Advertising: personalised advertising opt-out
  • Meta: Ad Preferences and off-Facebook activity controls
  • Reddit: advertising preferences in your account settings
  • Digital Advertising Alliance: optout.aboutads.info
  • Network Advertising Initiative: optout.networkadvertising.org
  • Europe: youronlinechoices.eu

These tools are operated by third parties, not by us, and their coverage changes over time.

9. Do Not Track

There is no common industry standard for how websites should respond to browser "Do Not Track" headers, and we do not respond to them. We do honour Global Privacy Control, which is a recognised opt-out signal under California and several other US state privacy laws — see Section 3.2.

10. How long cookies last

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies last for the periods shown in Section 5, unless you delete them sooner. Where a third party sets the cookie, that party controls its lifetime; we cannot extend or shorten it.

11. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when we add, remove, or reconfigure the tools we use. The "Last Updated" date at the top will change. If we introduce a materially new category of tracking, we will ask for your consent again rather than relying on a consent you gave for something else.
